As a Technical Policy Analyst – AI Oversight, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing policies that govern the responsible use of artificial intelligence across the Department of National Defence. You will analyze emerging AI technologies, assess their risks and performance implications, and provide evidence-based recommendations to senior leadership. This position bridges the gap between technical AI capabilities and policy decision-making, ensuring that DND's use of AI aligns with government priorities, ethical standards, and security requirements.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting technical assessments of AI systems, evaluating their effectiveness and potential risks, and drafting policy frameworks and guidelines. You will collaborate with AI developers, security specialists, operational commanders, and other government departments to understand how AI technologies are being deployed and where oversight mechanisms are needed. You will also monitor international developments in AI governance and help DND stay ahead of emerging challenges.

To succeed in this role, you should have a university degree in computer science, engineering, data science, policy studies, or a related discipline.
