Entry Plans
There are several pathways to enter the Staffing and Resourcing Analyst role within the federal Public Service:
**External Recruitment**: DND regularly posts competitions for Staffing and Resourcing Analyst positions on the Government of Canada Jobs website (jobs.gc.ca). These competitions are typically open to Canadian citizens and may specify desired experience levels.
**Talent Pools**: HR pools may be established following a competition, creating a list of qualified candidates available for appointment within a set timeframe. This allows for faster hiring when positions become available.
**Lateral Moves**: Current Government of Canada employees in related HR or administrative roles may be able to transfer into this position, often with modified competition processes.
**Student Programs**: The Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) and Canadian Experience Class internships can provide entry opportunities for students and recent graduates, potentially leading to permanent positions.

Remote work options have expanded across the federal Public Service, and many HR analyst functions can be performed effectively from home or alternate work locations. However, some duties may require in-person presence at DND facilities, particularly for participation in selection boards, interviews, or internal meetings.
Job sharing and part-time permanent positions may be available in certain locations. Flexibility is typically negotiated with your manager based on business requirements and collective agreement provisions. It is recommended to inquire about specific arrangements during the recruitment and hiring process, as options can vary by regional office and team.
