Positions are open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and in some cases, temporary residents, subject to security clearance requirements. You may enter as a Sports Supervisor directly if you have the required experience and qualifications, or you may begin in a lower classification such as Recreation Coordinator and advance through internal competitions as you gain supervisory experience. DND also accepts applications from individuals with relevant private sector or non-profit sports management experience. Part-Time Options

Part-time work availability for Sports Supervisors varies depending on operational needs and the specific position. Some supervisory roles may be structured as full-time permanent positions to ensure consistent program leadership and management continuity. However, DND is committed to providing flexible work arrangements where possible. Remote work opportunities are typically limited for this role, as sports program supervision generally requires on-site presence at facilities and bases to oversee operations, supervise staff, and conduct program activities. However, some administrative and planning tasks may be completed remotely. Flexible scheduling may be available depending on the work location and program structure—for example, supervisors of evening or weekend sports programs may have adjusted daytime hours. When applying or interviewing for a position, discuss flexible work arrangements with the hiring manager, as accommodations are sometimes possible based on operational requirements and individual circumstances. DND values work-life balance and will work with employees to find sustainable arrangements that maintain program quality and meet both organizational and employee needs.
