Overview

As a Social Services Program Officer in the Department of National Defence, you will develop, implement, and evaluate social service programs and policies that support the health and well-being of military personnel, veterans, and their families. You will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to identify social needs, design evidence-based interventions, and ensure programs meet the diverse needs of our communities. This role combines research, policy analysis, and program management to create meaningful impact on people's lives. Your responsibilities will include conducting needs assessments, analyzing social trends and data, consulting with stakeholders, and recommending program improvements. You will prepare reports, briefing documents, and recommendations for senior management, while maintaining awareness of federal legislation, departmental policies, and best practices in social services delivery. You will also monitor program effectiveness, manage budgets, and coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure seamless service delivery. You will work in a dynamic environment within DND headquarters, regional offices, or military bases across Canada.
