Part-time and flexible work arrangements are available for Social Services Assistant positions, though availability varies by location and program needs. Many DND civilian social services teams offer part-time hours to accommodate employees balancing work with education or personal commitments. Remote work options have expanded in recent years, particularly for administrative tasks such as case documentation, record management, and virtual client consultations, though direct client support often requires in-person interaction. The Government of Canada is committed to work-life balance and offers flexible scheduling options where operationally feasible. Compressed work weeks and staggered schedules may be negotiated with your manager based on organizational requirements. Job sharing arrangements are sometimes available for qualified candidates. All federal employees, regardless of part-time or full-time status, have access to the same benefits and professional development opportunities.
