Officer Cadets are junior commissioned officers in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) who are undergoing training to develop the leadership, technical, and operational skills required for commissioned service. As an Officer Cadet, you will be part of an elite cohort learning to lead personnel, manage resources, and contribute to national defence and security objectives. You will transition through structured training phases that combine classroom instruction, practical exercises, and field experience across military installations in Canada and potentially abroad.

Training
Entry Requirements: Candidates must have completed or be pursuing a post-secondary degree from a recognized Canadian university, or equivalent educational credentials. Depending on the entry plan, you may complete your degree before, during, or after beginning your Officer Cadet training.
Professional Development: The CAF provides comprehensive, structured training through the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School (CFLRS) and branch-specific officer training establishments. Training includes military science, leadership development, physical fitness standards, weapon handling, tactical operations, and professional military education. You will earn certifications in various operational and technical competencies specific to your branch and trade. Entry Plans
Officer Cadet positions are filled through the CAF recruitment process, which includes competitive selection based on academic qualifications, fitness assessments, medical clearance, security vetting, and interviews. The primary entry routes are: Direct Entry Officer programs for university graduates, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) University Training Plan (UTP) for students currently enrolled in post-secondary studies, and Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP) for select candidates.
