Materials Engineering Technologists support the design, development, and testing of materials used in Defence and National Security projects. Working within the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering family, you will apply scientific and engineering principles to solve real-world challenges involving metals, composites, ceramics, and other advanced materials. Your work directly contributes to the performance, safety, and reliability of military equipment, vehicles, and infrastructure.
In this role, you will conduct laboratory tests and analyses, prepare technical reports, assist with materials selection for projects, and support quality assurance processes. You may work in laboratories, manufacturing facilities, or field environments, collaborating with senior engineers, technicians, and project teams. Your responsibilities include maintaining testing equipment, documenting results, and recommending process improvements based on findings.
Materials Engineering Technologists are employed across Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) facilities, Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) bases, and other Department of National Defence locations.
