Entry Plans

There are several pathways to join DND as a Marketing Assistant. The primary route is through public competitions advertised on the Government of Canada's job board (jobs.gc.ca), where you can apply directly to Marketing Assistant positions within DND. The Public Service may also use lateral recruitment pools to identify qualified candidates from other federal departments. If you are a recent graduate, watch for DND's participation in federal student recruitment programs such as the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) or the Post-Secondary Recruitment Campaign (PSRC), which offer excellent entry opportunities. Veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces may benefit from priority consideration or targeted recruitment initiatives. Once hired, you will typically begin at the entry level of the position and may advance as you gain experience and demonstrate competency in marketing and communications functions.

Part-Time Options

Part-time employment opportunities for Marketing Assistants are available within DND and may be offered depending on operational requirements and business needs. Many positions support flexible work arrangements, including hybrid schedules that combine office and remote work days. Remote work options have become more common, particularly for tasks such as research, content development, and administrative support. Eligibility for flexible or part-time arrangements is determined by your manager and organizational needs. The Public Service is committed to supporting work-life balance, and DND HR can discuss available options during the hiring process or once employed. If you require accommodations or have specific scheduling needs, we encourage you to discuss these with your hiring manager or HR advisor.
