Overview

As a Manager – Audit and Evaluation, you will lead audit and evaluation teams within the Department of National Defence, ensuring accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across defence operations and programs. You will direct the planning, execution, and reporting of audits and evaluations that assess the effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance of DND activities, policies, and spending. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, requiring you to manage team performance, stakeholder relationships, and complex projects in a security-conscious environment. In this position, you will be responsible for developing audit and evaluation strategies, managing budgets and resources, supervising professional staff, and presenting findings to senior leadership and Treasury Board. You will work collaboratively with other government departments, internal stakeholders, and external audit bodies. Your work directly supports DND's accountability to Parliament and contributes to better decision-making and resource management across the defence sector. The role offers exposure to national security issues, defence policy, military operations, and the inner workings of a major federal organization.

Government of Canada training programs provide professional development in audit methodologies, evaluation frameworks, Treasury Board policies, and federal financial management. You may pursue additional certifications through professional bodies like the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) or the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES). Ongoing learning includes training in government-specific tools, security protocols, and leadership development to advance your career within the Public Service.
