Entry Plans

You can enter this career through several pathways within the federal Public Service. The primary route is through open competitions advertised on the Government of Canada's official job board (jobs.gc.ca). DND also maintains talent pools for Real Estate Services positions, allowing qualified candidates to be accessed for rapid staffing when vacancies arise. If you're a current federal public servant, you may be able to transition into this role through internal lateral moves or deployment opportunities. Recent graduates can explore student work programs such as the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) to gain relevant experience. Military personnel transitioning to civilian roles may also find pathways into leasing positions, particularly if they have relevant experience in logistics or facilities management.

Part-Time Options

Part-time and flexible work arrangements are often available for Leasing Officer positions, depending on operational needs and the specific DND location. Many DND offices offer telecommuting options, allowing you to work remotely for portions of your week while maintaining regular office presence for meetings and document review. Job sharing may be available in some positions. Flexible hours can sometimes be arranged to accommodate personal circumstances, subject to management approval and business requirements. Remote work capacity has expanded across the federal government, making this a viable option for administrative and analytical work components of the role. Interested candidates should discuss flexible work possibilities during the recruitment process, as availability may vary by location and unit.
