Overview

As a Learning and Development Assistant, you will support the delivery of training and development programs within the Department of National Defence. You will work with learning professionals to design, coordinate, and implement learning initiatives that help DND civilian employees build skills and advance their careers. Your responsibilities will include scheduling training sessions, maintaining learning records, coordinating with instructors and participants, and ensuring training materials are organized and accessible. You will play an important role in helping our civilian workforce develop the competencies needed to support Canada's defence and security mission. Training

To be successful in this role, you should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Some post-secondary education in human resources, business administration, or a related field is an asset. You may be required to obtain security clearance depending on the specific position and work environment. On the job, you will receive training in DND learning systems, training coordination tools, and human resources processes. Professional development opportunities include pursuing certificates or diplomas in instructional design, training coordination, or human resources. Many DND employees take advantage of Government of Canada learning programs and may pursue credentials such as the Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) designation through professional associations.
