Entry Plans

Most Information Management Training Coordinator positions are filled through public Service competitions advertised on the Government of Canada Jobs website (jobs.gc.ca). These competitions are open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. You may enter this career through several pathways: **Direct Application**: Apply when a competition is posted for this specific position. Competitions typically require you to demonstrate relevant education, experience, and competencies through your application and during selection processes such as interviews or written assessments. **Lateral Moves**: If you are already a federal public servant in another department or position, you may apply for indeterminate or term positions. Your existing public service status can provide advantages in the selection process. **Student Programs**: DND participates in federal student work programs, including the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) and the Post-Secondary Recruitment (PSR) program. These programs allow you to gain experience while completing your education and may lead to permanent employment. **Talent Pools**: Periodically, the Public Service Commission may establish talent pools for Information Management positions that allow qualified candidates to be appointed without competing in individual competitions. We recommend registering with the Government of Canada Jobs email alert system to be notified when competitions open for this role.

Part-Time Options

Part-time and flexible work arrangements for Information Management Training Coordinators vary depending on operational needs and departmental policies. Many positions offer flexible hours within core hours (typically 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM), allowing you to adjust your schedule around training delivery commitments. Remote and hybrid work options have become more common for this role, particularly for tasks such as curriculum development, content creation, and administrative coordination. However, some in-person training delivery may be required, depending on the training format and audience location. Many DND locations across Canada now support hybrid arrangements where coordinators work from home for content development and office-based work for live training sessions. Job-sharing and compressed work weeks are sometimes available on a case-by-case basis. If flexible work arrangements are important to you, these should be discussed during the hiring process or negotiated with your manager once hired. Availability of flexible options may depend on the specific DND unit, location, and operational requirements.
