Overview

As an Information Asset Management Technician, you play a crucial role in managing and maintaining Defence and Armed Forces data assets. You support the organization's information management objectives by organizing, cataloguing, and maintaining digital information resources. Your work ensures that critical defence information is properly stored, accessible to authorized personnel, and managed in compliance with federal regulations and DND policies. Your day-to-day responsibilities include creating and updating metadata records, performing data quality audits, managing digital asset repositories, and assisting with information governance initiatives. You work with various databases and information systems to track and monitor Defence assets. You may also support the implementation of information management standards and help develop procedures for handling sensitive and classified information. You'll work within DND's Information Management (IM) branches, typically in office-based environments with secure access to Defence computer systems. You collaborate with other technicians, IM specialists, and various military and civilian teams across the organization. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to information security and confidentiality.
