These competitions are open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and individuals with temporary resident status who meet the eligibility criteria.
You may also enter through lateral moves if you already work for the federal government in a related field such as IT support, records management, or business analysis. DND periodically recruits for this occupational group through targeted recruitment campaigns and talent pools. Some candidates progress into this role after gaining experience in entry-level information management or administrative positions within the department.
Students and recent graduates may find opportunities through the Post-Secondary Recruitment (PSR) program or Co-op Student programs, which provide work-integrated learning experiences. Once you complete a student placement and demonstrate strong performance, you may be considered for permanent or term positions within DND.
Part-Time Options
Information Asset Management Officer positions at DND typically offer flexibility in work arrangements. Many positions support hybrid or remote work options, particularly for analytical and systems-based tasks such as metadata development, compliance auditing, and policy research. However, some duties may require presence at the office for collaboration, training delivery, and access to secure systems.
Part-time and job-sharing arrangements may be available depending on operational needs and position level. Flexible hours are often accommodated to support work-life balance, and DND supports the federal Treasury Board directive on flexible work arrangements. Term positions may also be available for those seeking shorter-term employment.
To determine the specific flexibility available for a particular position, review the job posting details or contact the DND Civilian HR office. Arrangements are typically negotiated at the time of hire or during an employment transition, subject to operational requirements and management approval.
