Overview

As a Forensic Laboratory Technician with the Department of National Defence, you will play a critical role in supporting investigations and operations by analyzing physical evidence and conducting scientific testing. You will work in a laboratory environment, handling evidence from crime scenes, accident investigations, and other security-related incidents. Your work directly contributes to maintaining public safety and supporting national defence operations. Your responsibilities will include preparing and analyzing evidence samples, performing chemical and physical tests, maintaining detailed laboratory records, and preparing reports on your findings. You will operate specialized equipment, follow strict chain-of-custody procedures, and ensure all work meets rigorous quality and safety standards. You may also be called upon to testify about your findings or provide expert consultation to investigators and legal proceedings. You will work within a professional laboratory setting, collaborating with investigators, other technicians, and scientific staff. The work requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to established protocols. Depending on the nature of investigations, you may be required to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or on-call rotations.
