The Public Service Commission ensures all appointments meet merit-based criteria and representation goals. However, the Government of Canada recognizes the importance of work-life balance and offers flexible arrangements where operationally feasible. Arrangements may include flexible start and end times, compressed work weeks, or remote work options for specific duties that do not require in-person presence, subject to business needs and approval by senior leadership. During critical electoral periods (campaign periods, election day, and post-election reporting), full-time commitment on-site is generally required. Government of Canada employees at this level also benefit from standard leave entitlements including annual leave, sick leave, and various other leave types under the Public Service Labour Relations Act. Interested candidates should discuss specific flexibility options during the competition or appointment process, as accommodations are made based on operational requirements and individual circumstances.
