Overview

Contract clerks play a vital role in the Department of National Defence's supply chain management operations. As a contract clerk, you will support the procurement process by managing administrative and clerical duties related to contracts, purchase orders, and vendor agreements. Your work ensures that DND obtains goods and services efficiently while maintaining compliance with federal contracting regulations and Treasury Board policies. Your day-to-day responsibilities include preparing contract documentation, maintaining contract files, processing purchase requisitions, coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and tracking contract timelines and deliverables. You will work with various departments across DND to understand their procurement needs and ensure contracts are executed properly from initiation through completion. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously are essential in this role. Contract clerks typically work in office environments at DND headquarters, regional offices, or operational bases. You will collaborate with procurement specialists, finance personnel, and military and civilian staff across the organization. To succeed as a contract clerk, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent (Grade 12).
