Entry Plans

You can enter this career through several pathways within the federal Public Service. The primary route is through a public job competition advertised on the Government of Canada's Job Bank and the DND Civilian Careers website. These competitions are open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and other eligible candidates. If you're currently a federal public servant, you may be able to apply through internal competitions or lateral moves from related positions in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse operations. Some Defence establishments may maintain pools of qualified candidates for recurring positions, allowing for faster hiring when vacancies arise. Students and recent graduates may find opportunities through student employment programs or co-op placements, which can lead to permanent positions. The Canadian Armed Forces and DND regularly recruit for entry-level positions and provide training to develop your skills on the job. We encourage you to check the DND Civilian Careers website regularly for current competitions and to register for job alerts matching your interests.

Part-Time Options

Full-time permanent positions are the standard for Automotive and Industrial Parts Clerk roles within DND. However, depending on the specific Defence establishment and operational needs, part-time or casual employment opportunities may occasionally be available. Remote work is not typical for this position, as the role requires your physical presence in warehouse and storage facilities to manage inventory, handle parts, and operate equipment. However, some administrative components of the work may have flexibility depending on your supervisor and workplace arrangements. If you're interested in exploring flexible work options, we recommend discussing possibilities with your hiring manager or supervisor at the specific Defence establishment where you'll be working. Flexibility may be available for scheduling, shift arrangements, or temporary leave, subject to operational requirements and workplace policies.
