Entry Plans

To enter this career in the federal Public Service, you can apply through open competitions posted on the Government of Canada's Job Bank (jobs.gc.ca) and the DND Civilian Careers website. Most positions are advertised as indeterminate (permanent) or term-based roles at the AS (Analytics) or PM (Program Administration) classification levels, though this varies by position. You may also enter through lateral moves if you are already a federal public servant in a related human resources or administrative role. The Public Service Resourcing Model sometimes includes pools of pre-qualified candidates for common positions like this one; if you have previously competed successfully, you may be placed from an existing pool without a new competition. Students and recent graduates can explore opportunities through the Federal Student Work Program or by waiting for co-op or entry-level positions designed for early-career professionals. Part-Time Options

Part-time and flexible work arrangements are often available for this role, depending on operational needs and the specific position. Many DND civilian positions support compressed work weeks, flexible start and end times, and job sharing arrangements to help you balance work and personal commitments. Remote work options have expanded across the federal Public Service. While some Analyst positions in Diversity, Inclusion and Employment Equity may require regular on-site presence for collaboration and meetings, many aspects of the work—data analysis, policy development, and report writing—can be performed effectively from home. Specific arrangements are typically negotiated with your manager and may depend on your work location and duties. When applying, you can discuss flexible work preferences with the hiring manager or human resources contact. The federal Public Service is committed to accommodating employees' needs, particularly those with disabilities, caregiving responsibilities, or other circumstances. Part-time options are generally available as well, though full-time positions are more common in this career path.
